The SAIC ASSET Business Unit currently has a position open for a mid-level analyst to serve as a subject matter expert supporting the development and implementation of public health strategies, plans and policies for a commercial client in the petro-chemical industry.

Duties include research, analysis, and plans / policy support in the areas of public health/pandemic influenza (PI), emergency preparedness, critical infrastructure protection, physical security, anti-terrorism and continuity of operations. Activities may include: reviewing and evaluating public health, security and emergency response policies, plans and checklists; developing and implementing pandemic influenza response policies and plans; and developing and implementing public health/PI training programs and exercises. A working knowledge of international (i.e., World Health Organization), US Federal Government (i.e., Centers for Disease Control), and US state/local policies, strategies and guidance, including documents like the US National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza, the CDC's Interim Pre-pandemic Planning Guidance, and the Department of Defense Implementation Plan for Pandemic Influenza, is desired. The position will require approximately 50% international travel.Education: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Biology, Public Health, Infectious Diseases, or related field, preferred. Required Skills: The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition, the candidate should be able to accomplish tasks under limited supervision and have substantial self-motivation. The individual must possess a strong attention to detail, and be able to work as a contributing team member or team leader. The individual also will be required to complete important assignments on a short schedule. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other common office software applications is necessary. Desired Skills: Five (5) or more years related work experience is desired, as well as the ability to communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences. Experience with pandemic influenza or biodefense policy and planning strongly desired. Fluency in one or more foreign languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, or French, is desired.
