With the completion of sequencing the human genome, Proteome analysis has become a critical/essential part of new diagnostic and drug discovery programs. As a discovery platform, Proteomics combines state-of-the-art analytical technologies and molecular/cell biology to discover and validate novel diagnostic opportunities.. Celera has established a strong program in Proteomics, with demonstrated Cell Biology, Protein Chemistry and Mass Spectrometry expertise. Celera's Proteomics effort is focused on discovery and validation of biomarkers for diagnostic, theranostic, and therapeutic applications in the field of oncology. The Senior Scientist would assist in all aspects of discovery through validation of novel biomarker candidates including participation in coordination activities within the group. Responsibilities will include biomarker discovery based on the proteomic platform, assay development including multiplex assays, data analysis including use of standard statistical packages, biological evaluation of both diagnostic and therapeutic oncology candidates including cancer stem cell candidates. Other responsibilities would include assisting in sample preparation and FACS, recombinant protein expression antibody generation. The individual will be part of a team that interfaces with Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics and the Business Development groups as they relate to the goals of Celera.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. Postdoctoral training. 2 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology Industry Preferred Qualifications include significant research contributions in the field of oncology including protein biomarkers development . Significant expertise in cell/molecular biology as it relates to oncology. Knowledge in cancer stem cell research is highly desirable. Expertise in one or more of the following areas including immunoassays and tumorigenic assays, flow cytometry, tumor models, functional assays relating to marker characterization is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment is essential. A proven publication record is essential and the Ability to excel in a highly driven biotech environment is a requisite.
