Senior Program Associate (AAAS)

The Research Competitiveness Program (RCP) provides programmatic peer review services to research institutions and funding agencies. For research institutions, we provide program evaluation and guidance to improve research competitiveness. For state agencies, RCS provides program guidance and conducts peer reviews of proposals. RCS also conducts workshops and seminars on best practices in research and research management. Opportunities also exist for science policy research and participation in international projects.

Successful candidate will organize and run competitive proposal reviews; recruit and manage small teams of experts; represent AAAS on-site for review projects; research, write and edit reports; and help schedule, organize and participate in science and science policy conferences. Based on experience, candidate will also be responsible for initiating new programs.

Qualifications: Position requires extensive university or college level training leading to a Bachelor's degree in any field of science, engineering, or social science (PhD preferred); minimum of 5 years experience in progressively responsible positions; previous experience in conducting scientific research; previous postdoctoral research experience or advanced graduate student research experience preferred; prior experience in peer review, research policy or management a plus. Position also requires ability to work across many areas of science and technology; ability to represent AAAS to senior academic officers (Department Chairs, Dean, Provosts) and state government officials; excellent communication skills, including written and verbal presentations.
